The Anglican Realignment

2008 was an amazing year for orthodox Anglicanism world-wide.  At the highest level, some 1,200 bishops and clergy gathered in Jerusalem last June, representing over half of the Anglican Communion, for the Global Anglican Futures Conference (GAFCON).

The primates at GAFCON agreed that it is time to set in motion a new province for those who have left the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church of Canada.  This province was launched in December as the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA)

Among the jurisdictions and organizations comprising the ACNA, or who are represented in it, are Forward in Faith, the Reformed Episcopal Church, the Anglican Mission in America and the Federation of Anglican Churches in the Americas.

The parishes of the Anglican Fellowship of the Delaware Valley are either in one of these bodies, or are in communication with them.  We are what the ACNA would call a “cluster” in formation.  We hold ourselves accountable to one another for encouragement and a common mission in the proclamation of the Gospel.

Let us thank God for the centripetal forces at work in our movement.  There is much hard work to be done, but the dream of unity for orthodox Anglicans is coming true
